Humble Beginnings
It's hard to find an actual date when MINIs at The GLEN actually started. You could say it started when Mini started importing their little Mini Coopers into the US after they were introduced in 1959. They were certainly present at Watkins Glen International and tracks all over the country after that until, well...until today. But that's not when MATG started. You could say that it started in 2002, when BMW introduced the new MINI Cooper...but that's not when it started either. Sure, a lot of individuals brought these little R53s, R50s and R52s, not just Watkins Glen International, but to tracks all over the country. Still, it was an individual thing. It wasn't organized...and there wasn't really a club scene to organize them around this area of New York.
The Winery
Esther Earle, the owner. of the winery, after listing a bunch of rules to follow...Esther said "I have to tell ya...I hate MINI Coopers...so does my husband...we have Corvettes...just be out of here by noon... " with that she turned around and headed back up the driveway. Ironically, although she hated MINI Coopers...she opened the Winery early, and when everybody had arrived, she was spotted videoing the whole group from the upstairs balcony. She was also spotted walking up and down the driveway videoing all of the cars...these videos were later posted on the Winery's website and FaceBook page. So it was a very lucky driveway to turn into and the crews have been going there ever since. They welcome us with open arms every year...we even have our own specially labeled MINI Red and MINI White wines and a nice MINI Meade. They're great to us year round.ng about your business here.
Our Future
We look so forward here to providing a great experience for all of our friends who attend this event. We strive to provide a high quality, fun and entertaining event for people of all ages to come to and associate with like minded people. A place to see old friends and meet new ones. A great place to preserve and promote the MINI Culture. We've had people come from Florida, Georgia, California and even Alaska. We welcome every one. It's a fun, family friendly event filled weekend.
